Mushrooms stuffed with warm crab, melted cheese, spicy jalapeno make a delicious starter for any occasion.

One of the most anticipated elements of parties for any occasion is the food. Along the same line, conscientious hosts know that their party will be remembered by the quality and variety of the food served. Depending on the occasion and the host, the types of food served at get-togethers can vary endlessly.

Popular appetizers include creamy spreads served with a variety of bread and crackers. Simple vegetable, fruit and cheese trays as well as chips and dip are traditional entertaining fare staples. For seafood lovers, common starters are shrimp cocktail and artichoke-crab dip. Yet, other hosts and hostesses prefer warm appetizers like cheese fondue , or meaty dishes like meatballs and chicken wings.

When a celebration worthy occasion comes around, many adventurous hosts seize the entertaining opportunity and try new and exciting recipes. Obviously, the level of difficulty involved with preparation of newly attempted dishes is a factor that needs to be considered before buying all of the groceries. It is better to study-up and not end up with a recipe that is overly complicated. Entertaining should be fun, and choosing dishes to prepare that are delicious and simple is generally the best course of action for a busy host. There are many appetizers that can be prepared the night before,which can be an important time-saving factor.

Here is a recipe for a delicious and simple appetizer that can be prepared the night before. Simply prepare, cover, and place in the refrigerator. Heat them up just before serving. This recipe is also easy enough to prepare for a regular weeknight treat. Enjoy.

Spicy Crab Stuffed Mushrooms

Ingredients:

  • 24 mushrooms
  • 1/2 pound lump crab meat or imitation crab meat
  • 1 large fresh jalapeno
  • 1/2 cup shredded mild cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup Light Miracle Whip or other salad dressing
  • 1/4 cup light mayonnaise
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper

Directions:

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees
  2. Rinse the mushrooms under warm water, rubbing the caps gently to clean them
  3. Gently remove the stems from the mushroom caps and discard the stems
  4. Allow the caps to drain on a paper towel
  5. Seed and clean the fresh jalapeno pepper, finely chop the pepper
  6. In a medium- size bowl crumble the crab meat
  7. Add the chopped jalapeno, cheddar cheese and parmesan cheese into the bowl
  8. Pour in the Worcestershire and then the Miracle Whip and Mayonnaise
  9. Add salt and pepper
  10. Gently stir all ingredients together until well blended
  11. Stuff mushroom with heaping tablespoons or the crab mixture
  12. Place in a baking dish and cook for about 15-20 minutes.
  13. Remove from baking dish and place on a serving plate. Enjoy.
